DAY 10- FIELD STUDY 1

Image
Lahug Elementary School | September 30, 2025 Today’s observation at Lahug Elementary School gave me another close look at how young learners respond to routine, structure, and engaging activities. Teacher Jonabell was my mentor for the day, and I appreciated how she set the tone of the class from the moment the children walked in. She started with a prayer, which helped settle everyone. This was followed by the school hymn, and I noticed how the students sang proudly and with confidence. After that, she moved into their motivation songs. The children joined in right away, especially with familiar tunes like “What Is the Weather Today?” and the number songs. These simple activities already pulled the class together and got them warmed up for the day. Once everyone was fully focused, she let them sing the alphabet. It flowed naturally into their literacy lesson where they practiced reading one-syllable words. I liked how she guided them slowly, making sure the class stayed with her...

Lahug Elementary School | September 25, 2025 Today’s field study at Lahug Elementary School was filled with learning, creativity, and teamwork. The lesson continued with the repetition of the letter N to help the students further strengthen their recognition and understanding of the letter. Teacher Rosalie started the class by once again reviewing the sound of the letter N , patiently guiding the children as they pronounced it together. For the day’s activity, the learners were tasked to identify and color all the uppercase N’s and lowercase n’s on their worksheets. This was a fun way to improve their letter recognition skills. To integrate counting into the lesson, the children were also asked to color six apples, cut them out, and paste them onto a basket printed on their worksheet. The activity not only reinforced counting skills but also developed their fine motor skills through cutting and pasting. Meanwhile, I was assigned to help decorate the classroom attendance chart . Wh...

The repetition of the lesson was effective, as it gave the learners another chance to strengthen their understanding. For the day’s activity, the students were asked to color the letter N . This simple yet engaging task allowed them to focus on the shape of the letter while expressing their creativity. The highlight of the session was a fun play activity where the children formed a circle and moved around while singing the Alphabet Song . The energy in the classroom was contagious—everyone was smiling, laughing, and enjoying the activity while still learning. Afterward, Teacher Rosalie encouraged the class to read words that beg...

September 12, 2025 Today’s lesson at Lahug Elementary School focused on the letter Y . Teacher Jovelyn began by discussing the repetition of the sound of Y . The children were given an assignment to practice writing the letter Y and the phrase: “The yam of Sam is on the table.” I was tasked to check the children’s work after they submitted their assignments. Since today is Friday designated as Scout Day Teacher Jovelyn used the Boy Scout and Girl Scout songs as motivation and exercise. The children, wearing their scout uniforms, joyfully sang along and moved with energy. After motivation, Teacher Jovelyn recalled yesterday’s lesson and then called each student one by one to read words from the board. While doing this, she also gave an activity: coloring a stoplight. The morning class began with Teacher Jovelyn’s lively discussion about the sound of the letter Y . She introduced the children to words that start with or contain the letter Y, such as YOYO, YAYE, YAYI, YAYU . The use of repetitive words helped the learners familiarize themselves with the sound and recognize patterns. The children were also given an assignment to write the letter Y, and I was given the opportunity to check their work. While I was checking, Teacher Jovelyn guided the class in reading more words with the letter Y, which kept the lesson interactive and fun. After finishing the letter activity, Teacher Jovelyn transitioned to a lesson on numbers 1, 2, 3, and 4 . To reinforce the concept, she prepared a game that immediately caught the children’s excitement. The students were divided into boys and...

SEPTEMBER 4, 2025  Today’s field study at Lahug Elementary School was a little different because only 12 students were present in the morning class, which ran from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM . Even with a smaller class size, the students showed eagerness to participate and learn. We started the day with another practice for the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts . The children were lively and cooperative, showing that they truly enjoy the scouting activities. It was a good way to channel their energy before settling into the classroom lesson. For the academic part of the day, the teacher began with a recall of the previous lesson . Since some students couldn’t remember what was discussed about the letter T and the different modes of transportation , this review helped refresh their memory.
