Day 17- FIELD STUDY 1

Lahug Elementary School | November 28, 2025 Today was different from our usual classroom work because there were no regular classes. Instead, we were asked to report to Lahug Elementary School to attend a seminar organized for the teachers. Even though it was meant for them, we were given the chance to sit in and observe, which felt like a valuable opportunity. The seminar gave me a better idea of what teachers deal with beyond classroom routines. I watched how they exchanged ideas, shared challenges, and discussed new approaches to improve their teaching. It was interesting to see them in a professional learning setting rather than in front of their students. It reminded me that teaching involves constant growth and collaboration, not just delivering lessons. Being included in the event helped me appreciate the bigger picture of the profession I’m preparing for. It showed me that learning doesn’t stop once you become a teacher. I left the seminar feeling inspired and more awar...

Day 16- FIELD STUDY

Lahug Elementary School | November 27, 2025 Today was a big day for me at Lahug Elementary School because it was my scheduled demonstration day. Miss Rosalie’s class was merged with Miss Evon’s group, so we handled more than sixty learners in one session. It was a full room, but it also gave me a real glimpse of what it feels like to manage a large class in an early childhood setting. I started the session by leading the prayer, which helped settle the children. Right after, we sang the school hymn and moved into the motivation songs. The group responded well to the familiar routines. They enjoyed singing the “Twelve Months of the Year,” “Seven Days of the Week,” and the number songs. Even with a big crowd, the children were engaged and followed along, which made me feel more confident as I facilitated. Once they were settled, I introduced the new weekly topic, which was the letter J. I guided them on how to pronounce the letter and talked about different words that begin with it...

Lahug Elementary School | November 26, 2025 Today’s observation at Lahug Elementary School was a little different from the usual setup. Teacher Rosalie’s class was merged with Miss Evony’s group, so we handled more than sixty learners in one session. It felt like a full house, but it was interesting to see how both teachers managed the large group while keeping the children engaged. The session began with a prayer, which helped calm the room despite the crowd. After that, everyone stood for the school hymn. Even with so many students, the room felt united as they sang together. The motivation songs came next, and the kids jumped right in. They sang the “12 Months of the Year,” “7 Days of the Week,” and their favorite number songs. These routines always bring the children’s energy together and prepare them for the lesson. Once the class settled, Miss Evony introduced the new topic for the week: the letter J. She guided the students on how to say the letter correctly and encouraged...

Lahug Elementary School | November 21,2025 Test Questionnaires Checking I spent today’s observation with Teacher Rosalie, and it turned out to be a good reminder of how routine helps young learners feel settled and ready to work. She began the class with a prayer, followed by the national anthem and the school hymn. The students knew the flow so well that everything moved calmly and in order. For the motivation, she used familiar songs that the children enjoyed. They sang the twelve months of the year, the seven days of the week, the circle song, and a few number songs. These warm-ups brought the class together and helped them shift into learning mode. The children were lively but still focused, which showed how much these songs support their readiness. After the songs, she asked them to sing the alphabet along with sign language. It was nice to see how many students could follow the signs while singing. Since the lesson for the day was a repetition of their previous topic, Tea...

Lahug Elementary School | November 20, 2025 EXAMINATION DAY Today’s observation at Lahug Elementary School gave me a good look at how teachers handle routines even on exam days. Teacher Rosalie was my mentor, and she opened the morning the same way she usually does. The class started with a prayer, followed by the singing of the national anthem and the school hymn. Even though it was a test day, she kept the familiar flow, which helped the children settle in and feel comfortable. She warmed up the class with their motivation songs. The kids enjoyed singing the “12 Months of the Year,” “7 Days of the Week,” the circle song, and a few number songs. These short and lively activities helped the students shake off their nerves and get ready for the tasks ahead. After the motivation, she let them sing the alphabet song with sign language, which was a nice way to keep them engaged before shifting to more serious work. Since today was part of their examination period, Teacher Rosalie h...

Lahug Elementary School | November 18, 2025 Today I observed the class under Teacher Rosalie at Lahug Elementary School. She opened the morning by leading the children in a prayer, followed by the national anthem and the school hymn. It was a calm and respectful start to the day, and the students settled in quickly. After that, she moved into their motivation songs. The class sang “The Twelve Months of the Year,” “Seven Days of the Week,” the circle song, and a few number songs. These familiar tunes lifted the mood and helped the children warm up before the main lessons. Once the students were engaged, Teacher Rosalie guided them through the alphabet song with sign language. It was nice to see how the children connected movement with sound, and many of them tried their best to follow along. For literacy, she introduced syllable reading and made sure to go step-by-step so everyone could keep up. The children responded well, especially when she checked their understanding after eac...

Lahug Elementary School | November 13, 2025 Today I spent the day observing in Lahug Elementary School, and Teacher Bell was my mentor. The class had a calm and friendly atmosphere, which made it easy for the children to settle into their morning routine. After greeting the learners, she went straight into the literacy lesson for the day, which focused on the letter C. She began by showing different words that start with the letter C. The children were excited to identify familiar items like cat , cup , car , and cake . Teacher Bell took her time explaining how the sound of C works when it’s followed by the vowels a, e, i, o, and u. She gave simple examples and repeated each one until the class could say the words on their own. I noticed how she used actions, pictures, and clear pronunciation to help the children understand the difference in sounds. The reading part of the lesson was a good mix of repetition and practice. The learners read short words that began with C, and Tea...
