DAY 4- FIELD STUDY

SEPTEMBER 4, 2025

Today’s field study at Lahug Elementary School was a little different because only 12 students were present in the morning class, which ran from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Even with a smaller class size, the students showed eagerness to participate and learn.

We started the day with another practice for the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. The children were lively and cooperative, showing that they truly enjoy the scouting activities. It was a good way to channel their energy before settling into the classroom lesson.

For the academic part of the day, the teacher began with a recall of the previous lesson. Since some students couldn’t remember what was discussed about the letter T and the different modes of transportation, this review helped refresh their memory. Once again, we talked about:

🚗 Land Transportation: bus, truck, car, motorbike, bicycle
Water Transportation: ship, sailboat, cruise ship, submarine, small boat, canoe
✈️ Air Transportation: airplane, small airplane, helicopter, hot air balloon

After the review, the students worked on an engaging activity sheet. They had to:

  1. Cut out pictures and identify how many items were in each picture.
  2. Paste the pictures under the correct column labeled 1 | 2 | 3.
  3. Color the pictures of the different modes of transportation and then paste them under the correct category: land, water, or air.

This hands-on task was not only fun but also a great way to reinforce both numeracy (counting and grouping) and categorization skills (sorting transportation by type). The coloring part added a creative touch that made the children more engaged and excited to show their work.

Even with fewer students today, the session was productive. It highlighted the importance of reinforcement and varied activities to ensure that learners not only remember lessons but also enjoy applying them in creative ways.
