DAY 25- FIELD STUDY 1
A Day of Learning and Celebration: Preparing for the Christmas Party
This day brought a welcomed change of pace a more relaxed and festive atmosphere as we began preparing for the upcoming Christmas party for the students. The morning started with the familiar routine of recalling previous lessons, ensuring that despite the excitement building around the celebration, the students remained grounded in their academic work. This balance between maintaining educational continuity and acknowledging the special occasions that bring joy to children's lives demonstrated an important aspect of teaching: the ability to honor both learning objectives and the moments that make childhood memorable. The recall session went smoothly, and I could sense the students' anticipation for the festivities to come, yet they remained engaged and participatory in reviewing what they had learned.
After the morning class concluded, I experienced one of those spontaneous, heartwarming moments that make teaching so rewarding. Some of my students approached me with an enthusiastic request they wanted to do "one last TikTok" with me. Their excitement was infectious, and I happily agreed to join them in creating this fun video together. As we danced, laughed, and recorded our TikTok, I was reminded of how important it is to connect with students beyond formal instruction. These playful interactions build trust, strengthen relationships, and create memories that students will associate with positive feelings about school and learning. The joy on their faces and the genuine connection we shared in that moment was a beautiful reminder that teaching is as much about building relationships as it is about delivering lessons.
The afternoon session followed the same routine as the morning, maintaining structure and consistency even as excitement bubbled beneath the surface. However, once classes were dismissed, the real preparation began. My mentor and I stayed behind to prepare the decorations for the Christmas party, transforming the classroom into a festive space that would delight the children. As we hung decorations, arranged displays, and created a cheerful atmosphere, I gained appreciation for the behind-the-scenes work that teachers do to make special occasions memorable for their students. This seemingly simple task of decorating was actually an act of care a way of showing students that their joy matters and that celebrations are worth the effort. This day beautifully illustrated how teaching encompasses not just academic instruction but also the creation of a warm, celebratory community where students feel valued, connected, and excited to be part of something special.
