DAY 22- FIELD STUDY 1
A New Classroom, A World of Sounds
December 9th, 2025, marked Day 22 and brought an exciting shift in my teaching journey. After following our familiar morning routine, I transitioned to a different learning environment as part of our weekly rotation through all the kindergarten classrooms. This time, I found myself in Miss Rosalie's class, ready to observe a new teaching style and interact with a fresh group of eager young learners. The rotation system offers invaluable exposure to different classroom management approaches, teaching methodologies, and student dynamics each classroom its own unique ecosystem of learning.
The day's lesson focused on an engaging and practical topic: identifying different sounds in the environment. From my observation post, I watched as Miss Rosalie skillfully guided her students through an auditory exploration of the world around them. The children were remarkably engaged, their enthusiasm evident as they raised their hands eagerly to share what they heard and recognized. Whether it was the chirping of birds, the honking of cars, the ringing of bells, or the rustling of leaves, these young learners demonstrated impressive auditory discrimination skills. Their ability to correctly identify various environmental sounds revealed not just memorization, but genuine understanding and connection to their everyday experiences.
What struck me most during this observation was witnessing how effectively Miss Rosalie had cultivated both knowledge and confidence in her students. The children didn't hesitate to participate; they knew their answers and shared them proudly, showing that the learning had truly taken root. This experience of rotating through different classrooms reinforces an important lesson for any developing educator: there are countless ways to reach young minds, and each teacher brings their own strengths and approaches to the classroom. By observing Miss Rosalie's success with this sensory-focused lesson, I added another valuable tool to my growing understanding of effective early childhood education.
