Day 19- FIELD STUDY 1
Lahug Elementary School | December 2, 2025
Observing Excellence and Supporting Learning
December 2nd, 2025 in the classroom, and the morning began with our established 7 AM routine that the students had grown to love and expect. As the children settled into their day, I took on the important administrative task of checking attendance, marking who was present and ensuring we accounted for every student. This responsibility gave me a clear overview of our classroom community for the day and helped Teacher Jovelyn plan her instruction accordingly.
The heart of the day's learning centered around the letter "J," with Teacher Jove leading an engaging and dynamic lesson that truly captured the students' attention. From my observation point, I watched as the children eagerly participated in the games and activities designed to help them master this new letter. The energy in the room was palpable hands shot up enthusiastically, voices called out answers, and faces lit up with understanding. Witnessing Teacher Jovelyn's skillful facilitation reminded me of the artistry involved in teaching young learners, as she seamlessly blended instruction with play to create an environment where learning felt like joy rather than work.
My hands-on contributions came in the form of organizing and sorting alphabet cards back into their proper order, a task that may seem simple but is essential for keeping our learning materials ready and accessible. More meaningfully, I had the opportunity to guide individual students through their personal activities, offering one-on-one support where needed and celebrating small victories along the way. These moments of personalized attention helping a child sound out a letter, encouraging them through a challenging task, or simply being a supportive presence highlighted how every role in the classroom, whether leading or supporting, contributes to each student's growth and success.
